Longevity Health Center is a cooperative of integrative healthcare practitioners, rooted in healing philosophies dating back thousands of years. We are located in the heart of Historic Wailuku town in the lush valley on the Isle of Maui. All of our healthcare providers are licensed in the State of Hawaii, are well trained, and have many years of experience to help guide our patients along their journey to health, wellness and longevity.
Integrative medicine is branch of healthcare with varied modalities working in cooperation together. The goal is to provide a patient-centered clinical experience so the gaps of care are more narrow than in a conventional care model. At Longevity Health Center, our brand of integrative medicine began as a holistic care model in ancient China more than 4000 years ago. Chinese Medicine states that the path to health and wellness will be accomplished with the use of five branches of care: Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Tuina, Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, and TaiChi/QiGong. If we translate those modalities into a modern context, we see that Acupuncture and Moxibustion remain specialties of the Licensed Acupuncturist and Oriental medical practitioner. Tuina which roughly translates to grasping and pushing, is a form of manipulative therapy that has many professional specialists under its wing. Chiropractic and massage therapies are two forms of Tuina that we offer at Longevity Health Center. Herbal Medicine has a long history of use all over the world in every indigenous culture. Chinese herbal medicine is the most well developed system due to the records dating back more than 1500 years. Obviously health needs have changed, but the principles of care have not. We have three Nationally Certified Herbalists willing to help you with a customized herbal remedy for your specific ailments. Nutrition and lifestyle counseling are more important today than ever before and more research is published yearly to recognize the need for healthy food choices. Our nutrition experts can help you with simple fixes or more detailed, customized, and holistic solutions for your health. Last, but certainly not the least important facet to holistic healthcare is TaiChi and QiGong. These are ancient Chinese practices of exercise and meditation, respectively. If we expand the scope beyond these specific practices of, we can include many other forms of movement and meditation. At Longevity Health Center, we offer Somatics as a movement therapy, as one on one or small group sessions. Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Guided Imagery, and Transcendental Meditation are a few additional examples of such practices.
