Dr. Tice began his journey into healthcare at the age of twelve with Reiki training. His education continued in high school when he overcame a debilitating battle with Crohn’s disease utilizing holistic and natural healing practices. Further studies with a BA in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, an MS in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, and a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, led him to begin practicing Classical and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
He believes in the full cycle of education: see one, do one, teach one; and therefore served as faculty of TCM at the World Medicine Institute in Honolulu. He currently teaches at Institute of Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Honolulu. Dr. Tice employs his broad knowledge and varied personal experience in supporting his patients with their integrative healthcare needs. When not practicing or teaching, Dr. Tice plays soccer and enjoys being in nature with his wife and business partner. |
Born and raised in Kula, Ian received his Master’s in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from World Medicine School in Honolulu and began practicing as a licensed acupuncturist in 2010. He also attended Southern Oregon University, as well as the University of Hawai’i Maui and Manoa campuses.
“When I was 20,” he shared, “I was injured while bodyboarding in Makena and a friend suggested I try acupuncture. I was intrigued by the bottles of herbs, leaves and mushrooms – and the acupuncture treatment worked! I was so impressed with the holistic nature of this healing art, I switched from studying psychology to Chinese Medicine.” Prior to his acupuncture licensing, Ian was a Skills Trainer for autistic children and taught both Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology at Heald College in Honolulu, and Kinesiology at Spa Luna on Maui. His Hawaiian heritage and deep roots on Maui inform his love of nature – where he can be found on his days off with his wife and children – and music (he plays guitar, bass and ukulele), including kanikapila, which he enjoys with family and friends. |
